One of the biggest names right now in electronic music is getting ready to hit Snowbombing!
It's very easy to forget how young Oliver Heldens still is. Signed to a record label at the age of 17, the Rotterdam native is still only 22 and has the world at his feet with a huge career touring the world as well as producing some of the most popular tracks right now. His video hits on YouTube average at more than 20 million views each and he can even say that he has collaborated with one of electronic music's biggest legends (and his fellow countryman), the mighty Tiësto.
So, despite his crazy schedule, we grabbed Oliver for a chat to see how he's feeling with only a few weeks to go to 'til he's bringin' the beats to BC for Coors Light Snowbombing!
Snowbombing is heading to Canada for the very first time in April... And you're coming with us! Have you played in Canada before?
I do a lot of shows in Canada and it is probably my most favourite country to play in. I did a big bus tour last year all through the US and with two stops in Canada which were amazing.
Canadian audiences are famous for having very high energy. Is that your favourite kind of crowd to play to?
Yes! Canadians sure know how to party! High energy crowds are the best because I can feed off of their energy which gives me a great rush.
You famously opened Snowbombing Festival in Austria in 2015. Did you enjoy that night?
That festival was amazing. I remember the crowd being really into it and because everybody was dressing up in either their snowboarding costumes or other weird outfits the vibe was amazing.
Tell us what you've got up your sleeve for your fans at Snowbombing Canada this April...
I’ve got a couple of surprises of course, but I can’t give away too much right now. Just expect a great Oliver Heldens show!
Who are your favourite DJs to play with on the circuit?
That’s a really tough question, haha. There are so many people I enjoy playing with. I’d say my favourites are Sander van Doorn, Tiësto and Chocolate Puma!
Finally... Are you a skier or a boarder?
Well I went skiing in December so I guess I’m a skier!
